Lyrics and music by Alex Waters
I wanna go home, but I don’t know where that is
Do you remember playing outside with all the other kids?
No? Guess it’s time to say goodbye
You won’t be ready, but then again, neither will I
And I’ll keep you in our fading light
And I’ll keep you for all my life
(I wanna go home)
Take a picture of us
‘Cause you won’t remember me
Oh, what a year I just survived
If not for drugs and love I doubt I’d be alive
Saw the Pacific, and burned the witches up
Rebuilding my life brick by brick it’s just my luck
And I remember sitting across from you
With the table set, and it’s just us two
But at least I can go back there in my mind
(I wanna go home)
Take a picture of us
‘Cause you won’t remember me
(I wanna go home)
Take a picture of us
‘Cause you won’t remember me
(I wanna go home)
Take a picture of us
‘Cause you won’t remember me
(I wanna go home)
Take a picture of us
‘Cause you won’t remember me

Nostalgia and photography collide in the imagery of this song, and fittingly, it's also one of the oldest songs in Circa 1996's repertoire, penned very shortly after the conception of the group. Anxiety about memory loss, a pervasive homesickness, and plainly-stated trauma all make this one of the more personal tracks that Waters has released.
It is also believed that the phrase, "Saw the Pacific and burned the witches up" is a reference to a cross-country flight. Waters spent some time in San Diego in 2024, and as other songs corroborate, viewed the "Witch City" of Salem, MA, as his home. However, it isn't widely believed that he was born there, and perhaps this distinction explains the first line in the song.
