Stark Raving

Lyrics and music by Alex Waters

"Energy never dies, it’s only transferred. And he who has a Why to live can understand why I remember to be still and accept my blessings, because when it is finished, kinsmen die but there is no second-guessing.

I and I alone command my mind, not fate. And so by and by, in time, I’ll throw myself down at the Gate. He who conquers himself is the mightiest man, so I fight my flesh, for all decays, and that’s His plan."

Step up!

Step up!

Step up!

What are you willing to fight for?

Step up!

Step up!

Step up!

Stark raving mad at the world!

"If the Kingdom of God lives within my skin, one must imagine my joy as the day begins again. My soul is dyed with the color of my thoughts. Truth is a land with no path, but I seek what wise men sought.

Now, I am become Death, destroyer of worlds, and as the Wolves devour sunlight, Ouroboros starts to curl. Sirens sing their final song, my Inner Child saved. And when I die, I’ll live again, new hope, new love, new name."

Step up!

Step up!

Step up!

What are you willing to fight for?

Step up!

Step up!

Step up!

Find your future!

Step up!

Step up!

Step up!

There is no tomorrow!

Step up!

Step up!

Step up!

Stark raving mad at the world!

Despite Waters' continual dismissal of Omnism as the theological center of his songwriting, this song certainly succeeds in combining quite a few different holy books and scientific findings into one paragraph. Philosophy intermingles with science, creating both contrast and symmetry in this largely spoken-word track.

The use of gang vocals adds a subtle nod to punk and hardcore music, which Waters claims is the first genre he learned to write songs in.
